I’m Dr. Cynthia Kankeu, a cardiovascular scientist.
Dr. Kanks was created after years of hearing the same frustration from women: products that promise moisture but don’t last.
When customers told us something wasn’t working, we reformulated.
When shortcuts were possible, we chose performance.

Dr.Kanks specializes in porosity-specific hair care and plant-based skin products, using minimal synthetic ingredients and sourcing natural components from local and international suppliers.
When I first started formulating, I didn’t know about hair porosity. My journey began by giving free samples of a curly cream to women buying wigs from my first side hustle. Initially, feedback was positive, but then some women mentioned the product couldn’t penetrate their hair or define their curls.
Puzzled, I noticed a major difference when using the same product on a woman with high porosity hair—it defined her curls at first, but they vanished once her hair dried. This led me to dive deep into researching hair porosity during my PhD. I discovered that different porosity levels required specific formulations. Months later, I created a curly cream specifically for high porosity hair, tested it on the same woman, and the results were mesmerizing.
